WANDA MARIE GARMAN MILES

January 26, 1944 - January 29, 2017

Wanda Marie (Garman) Miles, 73, of Putnam, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday evening, January 29, 2017 in Oklahoma City. She was born January 26, 1944 west of Canton, OK to Charley Ray Garman and Florence Katherine Marie (Bromlow) Garman. She attended Oakwood and Putnam schools, graduating Putnam High School with the Class of 1962. She then attended Frances Tuttle VoTech where she earned an associate’s degree in dietary management. She then returned to Putnam. Wanda worked as a cook for the café and two nursing homes. She attended the Putnam Pentecostal and later the Putnam Christian Church. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, especially to the Colorado Mountains and crafting. She also received many requests for her famous pecan pie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Delbert Hanks, and sister, Marilyn Whitacre, and nephew Scott Allison.

Left to carry on her legacy are sister, Bonnie Allison and husband Ed; brother, James “Jim” Garman; her special nieces and nephews Sherry Palmer and husband David, Darren Allison, Melissa Ritchey and husband Dale, Thomas Whitacre, and Brittney Lay and husband Reese; great nieces and nephews Daniel, Megan, and Miranda Ritchey, and Tucker Lay; step-son Calvin Pierce and wife Tina and their children Joshua and Jacob Pierce, brother-in-law Lanny Whitacre as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the First Christian Church of Putnam with Pastor Dennis Adair presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Putnam.

Memorial Donation in Wanda’s honor may be made to the Senior Citizen’s Center or the First Christian Church of Putnam.
