Gwila "Sis" Graves, 90 year old resident of Tyler, Texas, died Friday, November 27, 2009 in Tyler, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Melvin Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Putnam, Oklahoma.
Gwila Geretta "Sis" Graves was born on December 17, 1918 in Putnam, Oklahoma to Guy Larkin and Emma Joyce (Cain) Hawkins. She was reared in the Putnam area and attended school there. Sis was united in marriage to Marvin Graves in Noonday, Texas. They made their home in California. Later in life they traveled across the country because of her husbands job until moving to Texas in 2001.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Phares and husband Bob of Highland Park, Colorado, Janie Livingston of Billings, Wesley Huffman and wife Linda of Libby, Montana, Gwila “Sissy” Mallie and husband Dick of Flint, Texas; two brothers, Kelly Hawkins and John Hawkins; one sister Annie Kornele of Woodward; six grandchildren, Mark, Wesley, Carrie, Amy, Richard and Kenneth; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her moose family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and one brother.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooseheart Charity with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
These are probably not related , but since there are photos (no permission) thought it might be able to start the cemetery
