Michael Eugene Smith was born on July 3, 1953 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Arthur Cleo "Shorty" and Mildred L Rice Smith. He departed from this life to return to his heavenly home on Tuesday March 4, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Shorty and Mildred moved the family to Woodward, Oklahoma where Mike attended elementary school. In 1966 the family moved back home to Leedey where his parents began an LP Gas business and Mike began the 7th grade. Mike attended Leedey School through the 12th grade. Mike joined the US Navy in the summer of 1971 and served 4 years achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. His active duty service consisted of time in the Meditterran aboard an aircraft carrier, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Vietnam War. After completion of his active duty, he returned to Leedey where he worked for Larry Ford Body Shop while continuing to serve for two years in the U.S. National Guard. He was also a member of the VFW.

Mike was blessed with a son, Steven Michael, born January 22, 1973, and a daughter, Kesia Danielle, born August 31, 1975. On November 12, 1976 Mike was united in marriage to Vickie Jean Smalling in Hydro, Oklahoma. They made their home in Leedey while he continued to work at the body shop. On June 27, 1977, Mike and Vickie were blessed with a daughter, Mandi Ranae. On October 6, 1981, thier second daughter Kayli Dawn was born. Their son, Jeffry Michael, was born on February 15, 1984. The family lived in Weatherford, Hydro, and finally settled in Camargo for the last 14 years. Mike worked fifteen years as a certified butcher for United Supermarkets in Weatherford and spent the last 14 years working in the oilfield for Hamm and Phillips.

Mike's true personaility and zest for life could be found in his hobbies and interests. They included drawing, fishing, collecting nicknacks, shopping, gardening (especially flowers), watching TVLand and Thunder basketball, cheering for Josie and Misti on the basketball court, and picking on Leslie. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his time with his family. Putting puzzles together, games, watching his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, telling jokes that only he laughed at, and he loved to embarrass his grown children. But his greatest achievement that he is the most proud of is his children.

He received numerous honors and awards including a Diamond Pendent from United Supermarkets for years of service. As well as safe driving awards and awards for years of dedicated service from Hamm and Phillips. Faith played an important role in his life. As an adolescent, Mike was baptized at the Leedey First Baptist Church by Louis Price. He was then baptized into the Church of Christ at Weatherford in 1990. In faith, through the Church of Christ, he volunteered at the Weatherford Agape Clinic, prepared and served community meals, served communion to homebound, and was a member of an outreach committee. He has been attending the Camargo Christian Church since moving to Camargo.

Mike was proceeded in death by his father, Arthur Cleo "Shorty" Smith; a great niece, Jacee Alexander; his father-in-law, Carroll Smalling; and his mother-in-law, Haleta Boatman Smalling.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Smith of their home in Camargo; son Steven Smith and wife Dana and children Taylor and Jazmyn of Ada; daughter Kesia Godwin and children Conner and Caislyn of Kremlin; daughter, Mandi and husband Tyler Milligan and children Caden and Chelsie of Marlow; daughter Kayli Smith of Oklahoma City; son Jeffry Smith and Bobbie Maze and son Clayton of Marlow; mother, Mildred Smith of Camargo; brother Larry and wife Sharon Smith of Mustang; brother Danny and wife Teresa Smith of Camargo; sister-in-law Mickie and husband Mike Hart of Weatherford; sister-in-law Debbie and husband Mike Sabedra of Duncan; brother-in-law Don and wife Dana Smalling of Norman; and a host of family and friends.
