Graveside Services for Leah Kay Miller, 68 of Fairview, will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, 1 July 2014 at the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, Oklahoma. Leah died in her home 26 June 2014 after a long bout with cancer. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Leah Kay Peard Miller, daughter of Joe and Letha (Balfour) Peard was born February 1946 in the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK. She grew up on the Peard Ranch southwest of Vici, OK. When the daily chores where finished she often took a ride on Black Jack, her favorite horse. She attended Vici School, both elementary and high school. Her friendships with the graduates of 1964 were close to her heart. She was reared in a Christian home. Leah was baptized in the Christian Church of Vici. Her belief in God sustained her through periods of sorrow and disappointments.

After high school she graduated from the Sally Galloway Beauty School in Clinton, OK. She worked a year in two different Woodward Beauty Shops soon after she finished her schooling. During those years as a beautician she worked in several different shops. Other employments include a bank position in Mount Prospect, Illinois and a sales position in a Beauty Supply store in Colorado Springs.

Leah married Tim Cook of Vici. They had one son, Timothy Lee. She married Gerald “Jerry” Piechocki, of Chicago. They had two children Gerald Wayne, born in Wichita Falls, Texas, who died in infancy. Their second child Lisa Dawn was born in the Clinton Sherman air base hospital in Burns Flat, OK. Leah and her children, Timmy and Lisa, returned to Oklahoma. They lived in Bethany where she worked five years in the Fox 1 Beauty Shop. She met the love of her life Joe Miller of Buffalo, OK. They married April 15, 1988 in Spicewood, Texas while visiting her niece, Carol Jacks. The ceremony took place on the shore of the Pedernales River. They had the blessing of Leah’s children, Lisa and Tim, and Joe’s children, Justin and Kim. They lived in Buffalo until Joe’s work with Northwest Electric transferred him to Arnett, OK. They purchased their first home in rural Arnett. They lived there until Joe retired from Northwest Electric where he had worked for 33 years. During this time Leah’s mother, Letha Peard, had a disabling stroke. She lived with Joe and Leah where she received loving care for the remainder of her life.

The Millers sold their rural home and moved to Fairview, OK., where they purchased a dream home with a spacious yard that they kept groomed. Leah pursued her gardening passion that included an array of flower gardens. She excelled in home décor and her cooking skills were out-of-this-world. When she was diagnosed with cancer she turned to God for strength. She derived much comfort from her bible reading and the prayers of her husband, children and all of her family.

Those who preceded Leah in death were her infant child, Gerald Wayne Piechocki; parents, Joe and Letha Peard; sister, Twila Nix and a grandchild, Austin Kincade.

Those left to cherish her memory: Her beloved husband, Joe Miller; Children: Tim Cook and wife Parthena of Waynoka, OK.; Lisa Kincade and husband Neil Kincade of Waynoka; Kim Miller Prudhomme and husband Jay of McKinny, Texas; Justin Miller and wife Stacey of El Paso, Texas, Grandchildren: Sarah Cook, Timothy Cook; Justin, Rachel and Faith Kincade; Carrie and Kayle Phillips: Aiden, Brody and Brinley Miller; Jack and Jaden Prudhomme. Sisters Jo Anna Peard of Vici and Willa June Peard of Woodward, as well as many family members and friends.
