Herman Edward Hunt

February 18, 1906, ~ August 28, 1979

Camargo – Herman Edward Hunt, 73, died Tuesday evening in a Vici nursing home following a lengthy illness. His service will be 10 AM today in the First Christian Church at Camargo. Doctor Andy Messenger, pastor of the First Christian Church of Woodward, will officiate. Burial will be in the Camargo Cemetery under direction of Shaw Funeral Home, Vici.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9 AM today until service time with the casket remaining closed following the service.

Hunt was born February 18, 1906, at Hill Top, Arkansas, and at the age of six moved with his parents to Washunga where he attended schools. On June 1926, he married Mildred Blair. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Washunga until 1930 when they moved to Camargo where they had since lived. He was the first operator of the free fairy on the South Canadian River. He also served as superintendent of Bentonite Mine at Camargo from 1940 until his retirement, and attended the First Christian Church at Camargo.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; and 10 children, Geraldine Williamson, Lovington, New Mexico, Marvin Hunt, Wannesville, Missouri, Gail Hunt, Shattuck, Marion Berry, Vici, Margie McDonald, Laramie, Wyoming, Bill Hunt, Cache, Kay Miskel, Woodward, Madelyn Ethridge, Belle Plaine, Kansas, and Jim and Jerry hunt, both of Woodward; four sisters, Helen Auld, Leona McCombs and Minnie Irwin, all of Newkirk, and Ollie Champion, La Mirada, California; 26 grandchildren; and three great – grandchildren.
