Darla Jean Harding, of Elk City, passed from this life on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the age of 58 years, 10 months, and 25 days. Darla was born in Port Hueneme, CA to Robert Harding and JoAnna Peard on January 19, 1959. The family then moved to Oklahoma, where Darla attended school graduating from Vici High School with the Class of 1977. In 1978, she was married to Wayne Hurley and to this union a daughter Jeana was born. She then married Jim Westenhaver in 1989, and together they had a daughter, Jesse. Darla worked as the secretary for Flag Trucking in Gage for many years. She attended the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Woodward.
Darla’s hobbies included sewing, drawing and painting. She truly loved spending time with her grandchildren. Darla was always known for her smile that would light up a room, her caring and love, and never hesitating to help anyone in need.
Darla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Letha Peard; father Robert Harding, and aunt Leah Kay Peard.
She is survived by her daughters Jeana Hurley of Spring, TX, and Jesse Dirickson and husband Dylan of Elk City; four grandchildren, London, Ethan, and Nathan Furr, and Lyric Westenhaver; mother JoAnna Peard of Vici; brother Jody Burton and wife Susan of Woodward; sisters Teresa Noreuil and husband Don of Woodward, and Maria Hall of Vici, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials may be made for masses to be said in her honor and that Shaw Funeral Home is accepting the contributions for masses.
