Delwin Monroe Whiteshirt, 41, of Seiling passed from this life on January 19, 2018 in Amarillo, TX surrounded by his family. He was born on December 28, 1976 to Virgil and Harriet Whiteshirt in Okeene, OK. The family was raised in Seiling where Delwin graduated Seiling High School with the Class of 1995. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1995 to 1999 earning a rifle sharpshooter badge and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon before being honorably discharged. Delwin then returned to Oklahoma and lived in El Reno where he attended Redlands Community College. He lived there until 2013 when he returned to Seiling. During this time he worked as maintenance at the casino. On August 19, 2015 he married Shelene (Washington) Whiteshirt in Taloga, OK. Delwin was a member of the Elm Grove Community Church and participated in Royal Rangers growing up. He was also a member of the Dog Soldier Clan and participated in the Ceremonial Sundance. In his spare time he loved to “rock out” to music.
Delwin was preceded in death by grandparents, Arlie and Laverne Lime.
Left to carry his legacy are his wife Shelene Whiteshirt of the home; father Virgil Whiteshirt of El Reno; mother Harriet Whiteshirt of El Reno, children, Damon Redbird, Aldan Whiteshirt, Taya Whiteshirt, Lauren Whiteshirt, Taygen Whiteman, Bryston Whiteman, and Deleena Whiteshirt all of El Reno; step children Jessica Gerdes of Woodward and Alex Washington of Seiling; grandson, Sebastian Gerdes of Woodward, sisters Chelsea Salinas of Clinton, Lis Carlon of Weatherford, Ally Carlon of Weatherford, and Kristeena Sleeper of El Reno, brother Miguel Whiteshirt of El Reno; as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Marine brothers, and friends.
A traditional wake service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7 PM at the C-1 Community Building in Seiling, OK.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2 PM at the Elm Grove Community Church (53502 S County Rd. 226) in Chester, OK. Burial will follow in Brumfield Cemetery.
