Kenney "Goose" Olen Whetstone was born on August 28, 1961 to Gilbert and Willa Dean (Custer) Whetstone. Kenney completed his earthly journey January 24, 2021, at his home with his family.
Kenney was raised on the family farm southeast of Chester with his 8 older brothers. By all accounts Kenney was the baby of the family even in adulthood. He attended Seiling Schools, graduating with the Class of 1980. Kenney married Carlene Louthan and from this union he was blessed with his son Donald William Whetstone.
Kenney enjoyed a lot of the simple things in life. He was an avid reader of all things, but his favorites were Western novels. His love of reading gave him a vast knowledge on a lot of subjects. You could always count on Kenney to surprise everyone at the family gatherings with his knowledge. He has a great interest in the weather and was always a highly informative source for what we could expect weather wise in our area. We lovingly considered him to be the family meteorologist. Kenney enjoyed being on the river fishing, gardening, and visiting at the roadside in front of his house. He loved family gatherings and dinners especially if there was cherry cheesecake involved. Kenney had many loves, but he considered being a "Papa" to his four grandkids his most favorite. You could always find him at the end of the driveway waiting to get his babies off the bus to walk them up the drive to the house. Kenney got to live his last bit of life enjoying every day with them and his son.
Kenney was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Willa Dean; four brothers, George, Gary, Arlyn, and Donnie; as well as a niece, Marissa; and a nephew Braxton.
He is survived by his beloved son Donald and wife Jamie; his four grandchildren Evelyn, Aryahna, Seth, and Serenity Whetstone; four brothers, Randy and wife Christine, Larry and wife Debbie, Danney and wife Donna, and Merle; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Goose dearly along with many other family and friends.
Kenney was a very important part of our lives and his memory will be forever cherished.
