RODNEY EUGENE STROPE

September 09, 1951 - February 11, 2018

Rodney Eugene Strope, of Warner, passed from this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 2 days. He was born on September 9, 1951 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Harold E. Strope and Phyllis Joy (Frye) Queener. Rodney grew up in several towns in Kansas and Oklahoma, graduating from high school with the Class of 1970. Rodney then enlisted with the United States Navy in where he served aboard the USS Chicago. He received his honorable discharge in 1974. He married the love of his life Doris Jean (Tedford) Strope on Dec 3, 1977 in Howe, OK, and to this union one daughter Mary was born. The couple made their home in several towns including Oklahoma City, Spiro, OK, Van Buren, AR, Muskogee, OK and Warner, OK where Rodney worked as an electrical technician and as a project manager for fiber optics. In his spare time he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, woodwork, and guns.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by a sister Linda (Strope) Ingels and an Uncle Jim W. Frye.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Doris (Tedford) Strope of the home; daughter, Mary E. (Strope) Louthan and husband Mackey, of Chester, OK; two grandchildren Mason Louthan and Mackenzie Louthan; sisters Terri Schlange of Bellevue, NE, Debbie Amos of Spiro, OK, and Lori Griffin of Alpine, TX; and brother Gordon Queener of Maysville, OK as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services for Rodney Strope will be held at 2:00 PM on SATURDAY, February 17, 2018 at the Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, OK with Pastor Dennis Adair presiding. Honorary Casketbearers will include Ricky Wilburn, Bobby Wilburn, Mackey Louthan, and George Tedford, Jr.

Memorial Donations in Rodney’s honor may be made to the First Christian Church with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
