Vera Madgline (Smith) Seifried, of Seiling, was born on July 11, 1927 in Stafford, OK to Claude W. and Sarah Bell (Mangus) Smith. She passed into the arms of her Lord on June 1, 2017 in Weatherford at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 27 days.
Vera attended the Sternburg, Independence and Tivoli elementary schools, and later Longdale High School. On June 1st, 1945 she married the love of her life Delbert Andrew Seifried in Canton, OK after he returned from service in WWII. To this union three sons were born: Dennis, Geary, and Randy. The couple lived in the Chester area from 1945-1951 before moving to the farm south of Seiling and later into the town of Seiling. Vera worked on the family farm and also at Biven’s Drug for 14 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women, and Ladies Investment Club. She also served as an ombudsman for the United Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Delbert Seifried; two brothers, Homer “Lee” Smith and Leonard “L.D.” Smith; and grandson Adam Seifried.
Vera is survived by her three sons, Dennis Seifried and wife Donna of Weatherford; Geary Seifried and wife Cathy of Weatherford, and Randy Seifried and wife Marquita of Seiling; sisters-in-law Dorothy Smith of Wichita, KS and Darlene Smith of Pryor, OK; seven grandchildren, Sohn Seifried, Stefan Seifried and wife Anna, Seth Seifried, Andy Seifried, Tyler Seifried, John Seifried, and Julie Stalder and husband Dave; and four great-grandchildren, Tresten, Andrea, Peydon, and Sophia; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on MONDAY, June 5, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Brumfield Cemetery under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations in Vera’s honor may be made to Crossroads for Progress, Methodist Church, or Brumfield Cemetery.
