The funeral for Jeanne Scheier, 79, of Woodward will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Seiling. The Rev. Scott Boeckman will officiate. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.
She was born Sept. 21, 1927, near Cherokee to Jack and Thelma Brooks Schallner and died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, in Woodward.
She grew up and attended school in Farley, N.M. The family moved back to Oklahoma when she was in the 11th grade, and she graduated from Cheyenne Valley High School in Major County. She moved to Kansas City to attend beauty college. After graduation, she returned to Oklahoma. She married Joe L. Scheier April 4, 1946, in Woodward. They made their first home northeast of Chester on the Schallner Ranch. They moved to Morenci, Ariz., in 1947 and then returned to the ranch in 1949. They moved to Seiling in 1956. She operated Jeanne s Beauty Shop in Seiling until 1968. She attended Northwestern in Alva where she received training and certification in the field of criminal justice. She worked as a dispatcher for sheriff s offices in Custer, Major and Dewey counties until she retired. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Seiling.
Surviving are her husband Joe Scheier, of Seiling; two daughters, Maggie Sander and Patty Hutchison, both of Woodward; two sons, Rycke Scheier of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Larry Scheier of Houston; three sisters, Jerry Penwell of Rockaway Beach, Mo., Freddy Thorsten of Fresno, Calif., and Jackie Louthan of Seiling; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Area Medical Foundation or Brumfield Cemetery.
