Michael “Mike” Anthony Rapp, of Seiling, passed from this life on December 8, 2017 at the age of 65 years, 10 months, and 26 days. Mike was born on January 12, 1952 to Raymond Fletcher and Betty Jo (Sumpter) Rapp in Mooreland, OK. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Seiling, graduating Seiling High School with the Class of 1970. After this, he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he earned his degrees in Agri-Business and Economics in 1974.
On August 14, 1971, he married the love of his life, Vickie (Kirkpatrick) Rapp in Tonkawa, OK and to this union three children, Chris, Jenni, and Kirk were born. The couple made their home on the family farm while Mike worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Richmond Church. He also served as Past Master of Seiling Masonic Lodge, as Past Patron of Seiling Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star as well as Past Grand Patron in 2010. In 1999 Mike served as the Oklahoma State Rainbow Dad for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. He was also a member of the India Shrine and the Guthrie Scottish Rite.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Anthony Rapp; and brother Owen Lynn Rapp.
He is survived by his wife Vickie of the home; children Chris Rapp and wife Chelli of Hennessey, OK, and Jenni Walters and husband Jerry of Seiling; grandchildren Ashton, Kaden, and Kallie Rapp, and Rae Ann Walters; two sisters-in-law Rhonda Rapp of San Antonio, TX, and Janice Rahn of Stillwater, OK; and two aunts, Eleanor Rapp of Lakewood, CO and Margaret Lovejoy and husband Walt of Wasilla, AK; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2017 at the Richmond Church with Pastor Michael Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery, all under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations in Mike’s honor may be made to the Area Medical Foundation or the Seiling Fire Department and Ambulance with Redinger Funeral Home, Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
