Chris Parson, 95 year old resident of Seiling, Oklahoma, died peacefully on July 10, 2018. Chris was born July 17, 1922 to Henry Clay and Gertie (Owen) Sander at their home in Seiling. She grep up in Seiling with her five older siblings and eight younger siblings. She went to school Seiling High School graduating as Valedictorian in 1940. Christine worked in the family grocery store and then traveled to Wichita, Kansas in 1942 to aid the war effort by helping build training planes. She stayed there until she married Dean Gaden in 1945. They lived south of Seiling and had five children.
Chris was very active in Eastern Star and served as Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor. She always worked hard, at different times serving for the Dewey County News and other times at the bank in Taloga. She volunteered at the Senior Citizen’s Center delivering meals. Chris was always willing to learn new things and was an avid reader.
In the 1970s, Dean and Chris divorced and in the early 1980s, Chris married Ray Parson. They lived south of Seiling on the family farm until Ray’s death. After Ray’s death, Chris continued to manage the farm and run the cow-calf operation until 2007 when she went to live with family.
Chris was preceded in death by her infant daughters, a grandson, Anthony Gaden, a daughter-in-law, Julia Gaden, and all but one sibling. She is survived by sister Beverly Autrey of Seiling, son Michael Dean Gaden, daughter Debra Lynn Gaden, daughter Denise Elaine (Gaden) Rex and husband Rusty, daughter Diane Ilene (Gaden) Vaughan and husband Danny, daughter Patti Jeanine (Gaden) Graham and husband Rick, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Most people will remember Chris as the lady who had the great fishing pond and an in-ground trampoline. She loved her family, cooking, baking and her plants around the house. She also loved the land and was proud to call herself a farmer.
Funeral Services for Chris will be held on Saturday July 14, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery all under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home. Memorial Donations in Christine’s honor may be made to the Seiling Public Library (or your local library) in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663).
