Alta Mae Nelson, age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28 in her home. Mae was born May 12, 1944 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Claude and Media Campbell. Mae married Harold Lee Nelson on September 15, 1961 in McClain County. She worked as a cook at Lil Abners where everyone knew her and enjoyed her cooking, especially her delicious pies. Mae truly lived life to fullest enjoying every moment with her kids and grandkids. She found joy in the little things and could always be found in her comfy chair during football season.
Alta Mae is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Media Campbell; brothers Cleo Campbell and Carl Campbell; sister Janette Campbell; husband Harold Nelson; nephew Josh Sanders; and sister-in-law Pauline Ward.
She is survived by her brother Leon and spouse Mary and sister Bonnie and spouse Denise ; Son Cecil and spouse Christie, Son Steven and spouse Kari, and daughter Angela Mills; Mae is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Rocky and spouse Leeanna, Michael and spouse Dani, Ethan, Ty, McKenzie, Darla, Janelle, Carson, Gavin and her three great-grandchildren Lauren, Ryan, and Emma.
