The funeral for Virgil E. Louthan, 95, will be 2 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2008, at Seiling Gospel Lighthouse Church. Pastor Pat Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemetery . Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.
He was born Aug. 29, 1913, on the family farm southeast of Chester , to Bertie Robert and Belle Claricy Cokerham Louthan and died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Seiling Municipal Hospital. He was raised near Chester and attended Lakeside School.
He married Ruby Marie Jellison July 30, 1932, in Taloga. They farmed and ranched near Chester . She died Aug. 5, 1994.
He married Ruth Ezell Aug. 1, 1999. She died Dec. 26, 2006. He later moved to Seiling Nursing Center until his death.
Surviving are three sons, Keith Louthan of Prague, Mackey Louthan of Chester , and Nolan Louthan of Weatherford; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to both wives, Ruby and Ruth, he was preceded in death by one daughter, three sisters, six brothers, and one grandson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Chester Community Building.
