Mackey Allen Louthan

Mackey Allen Louthan, 82-year-old resident of Chester, OK, passed from this life on May 31, 2020 in Seiling, OK. Mackey was born December 31, 1937 to Virgil and Ruby (Jellison) Louthan on the family farm in Chester. He grew up in Chester attending grade school at Lakeside School. He attended Seiling High School graduating with the class of 1956.

On November 11, 1956, Mackey married Lora Jean Dedrick at the Seiling First United Methodist Church and to this union four children were born Ricky Ray, Mickey Allen, Virgil Eugene, and Wanda Jean. They lived briefly in Wichita, KS where Mackey worked for Boeing. Mackey and Lora Jean returned to Seiling. Mackey worked briefly at Burchetts Case Tractors before becoming the Auto Mechanics teacher at Seiling Schools. While teaching at Seiling he also attended OSU where he obtained his Bachelor in Education. Mackey taught at Seiling until he retired in 1979 and then began farming full time.

Mackey was very active in the Seiling and Chester community, where he served as a teacher, firefighter, on the town board, and as a farmer. In his spare time Mackey loved fishing and whittling. He will be greatly missed by the community, his friends, and his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Ruby Louthan, son Rick Louthan, and sister Evelyn Davis.

He is survived by his wife Lora Jean Louthan of Chester, OK; children Mickey Louthan and wife Debbie of Seiling, OK, Virgil Louthan and wife Debbie of Seiling, OK, and Wanda Mongold and husband Rick of Chester, OK; ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumfield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Brumfield Cemetery, or the Seiling Fire Department, in care of Redinger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.
