Mary Ellen King, of Seiling, was born on May 24, 1935 in Morgan County, Missouri to Charles R. and Ellen W. (Cook) Fry. She passed from this life on March 31, 2018 at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 7 days.
Mary Ellen grew up in the Paola, Kansas area where she graduated Paola High School with the Class of 1953. She was united in marriage to Robert E. King on June 1, 1962 in Iuka, Kansas and to this union three children, Steve, Pat, and Mike were born. The couple made their home in Seiling in 1969. Mary Ellen went to work for First National Bank (now Seiling State Bank) in Sept. of 1972. She retired in 1994 as the Vice President. She also participated in Meals on Wheels for 25 years. Mary Ellen was a member of the First Christian Church, and volunteered with the Community Caring Ministry, and washing hair at the nursing home. In her spare time Mary Ellen loved to sing in the choir, take bus tours with her friends, and watch Thunder games, but being with family was the most important to her.
In addition to her parents Charles and Ellen Fry, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert King and a brother Charles Fry, Jr.
She is survived by her three children, Steve King of Seiling; Pat Montrose and husband Marc of Leedey, and Mike King and wife Gail of Seiling, 7 grandchildren, Cora Eagan of Woodward, Mandy Elliott of Mooreland, Kelsi Heim and husband Brian of Piedmont, Kayla Daugherty and husband Travis of Seiling, Tiffany Ellis and husband Ryan of Comanche, Tyler Montrose of Chickasha, and Cody King of Seiling, as well as 14 great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral Services for Mary Ellen King will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Seiling with Pastor Dennis Adair presiding. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery, all under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.
Memorial donations in Mary Ellen’s honor may be made to the Brumfield Cemetery Association in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.)
