The funeral for Mary Genevieve "Genevie" Gilchrist, 79, of Seiling, will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at First Christian Church, Seiling. The Rev. Dennis Adair will officiate. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger Funeral Home, Seiling.
She was born January 8, 1927, in Yakima, Washington, to Samuel Walter and Eva Grace Lawton Cox and died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at her home.
She was raised in Chester and attended Lakeside school through the sixth grade. She attended Richmond school in the seventh and eighth grade and graduated from Seiling high school in 1943. She worked at the Dewey County agent's office in Taloga.
She married Jack Wendell Gilchrist February 6, 1944, in Seiling. They purchased a farm east of Seiling in 1948, where they raised their family. He died September 30, 2000.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Larry and Dean Gilchrist, both of Seiling, and Jim Gilchrist of Alva; one daughter, Susie Goldsberry of Okeechobee, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great – grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
