Hobart R. Gift

 February 21, 1899 ~ June 19, 1987

Seiling – Hobart R. Gift, 88, died early Friday at a Seiling hospital. The funeral will be at 10 AM Monday at Redinger Funeral Home Chapel at Seiling, with burial at Brumfield Cemetery. The Rev. Ewel Vaughan will officiate.

He was born February 21, 1899, in Carrier. At the age of five, he moved with his parents to Seiling. He attended Old Richmond and Sterling Grove school and also Waukomis school.

On August 31, 1918, he married Katharyn Calhoon in Fairview. The couple made their home west of Seiling where he was engaged in farming, retiring in 1963.

Gift was a life member of the Seiling Masonic Lodge No. 495 where he was past master, receiving his 50 – year pin in 1972.

Survivors include daughter Elizabeth Wilson, Yatesville, Georgia; sons W. J. "Jim" Gift, Seiling, E. E. "Stub" Gift, Chicago, and E. R. "Fuzz" Gift, Barnesville, Georgia; eight grandchildren; 13 great – grandchildren; and sister Lottie Durfey, Logan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, brother and sister.

Memorials but be made to the Area Medical Foundation through the funeral home.
