CHARLENE OLIVE EDWARDS, daughter of Earl Elliott and Amanda Helena (Johnston) Blount, was born May 25, 1926 on the family farm southeast of Seiling. She departed this life on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her home south of Seiling at the age of 86 years.

Charlene attended Seiling School, graduating from high school in 1945. She married Thurman Leo Edwards, June 16, 1945 at Taloga. They made their first home with Thurman's parents east of Seiling until they moved to their farm south of town where they raised their three children, Rebecca June and twins Phyllis Jean and Phillip Leon. Charlene was baptized at the First Christian Church at Seiling by Rev. Winifred Kingen. Later, she and Thurman attended the Richmond Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Jolly Sewing Circle Club and she enjoyed writing poetry.

She is survived by her children, Becky Gore and Phillip Edwards both of Seiling and Phyllis Nevels and husband Allen of Putnam, five grandchildren: Ricky Gore (Kim), Jacqueline Murray, Kyle Nevels (Stephanie), Amber Farris (Flint) and Phillip Edwards, Jr., nine great grandchildren and one sister, Alberta Kodras of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thurman in 1997, her son-in-law, Jack Gore and a granddaughter, Angela Jean Nevels.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Brumfield Cemetery with Marie Elliott, officiating. Memorials can be made to the Brumfield Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
