At the age of 17, because of his diverse athletic talent, he refused an offer to try out from the manager for the Houston professional hockey team, the Houston Aeros. He would not go to the rink, because he loved football so much more and wanted to play college football with his close friend, Brandon Buckner. He found many new friends in college and as an adult maintained friendships from both high school and college. He was more than fond of comic books, especially Marvel comics, and an avid collector of comic books, and he even sketched his own comic characters since he was a child. Matthew appreciated many different genres of music. He enjoyed reading, and history, even art history and architecture, and guns. He loved big dogs, and while in college, Lost the custody battle for his dog Juice, Juice also liked to lift weights too, and is also very passionate about nearly every sports ball created. He was an avid athletic shoe collector since high school and did customized artwork on shoes. Matt still watched cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy and enjoyed watching movies. He built gaming computers, had started his own Twitch channel and understood blockchain technology and traded cryptocurrency. He really enjoyed traveling, travel to Europe in particular and wanted to go to Rome for the Italian art and history every year.

He was a member of: UFC gym, dark side gym, and Be fit gym, and until Covid it is fair to say he was always at the gym.
