DOROTHY LORAINE COOK, daughter of Eric and Nannie (Deckman) Hall, was born January 11, 1922 at LaDessa, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the home of her granddaughter, Michelle Sander, near Seiling.

The family moved to Fay, Oklahoma when Dorothy was 3 or 4 years of age and they lived there until moving to the Sternburg community fifteen miles west of Fairview. She attended Excelsor School, a one roomed school, where she completed grade school. She attended Fairview High School one year, Longdale two years and graduated from Seiling High School in 1940. Shortly after graduation, she began working for Merle and Sadie Mae Brady where she stayed over two years. There she met, A. D. Cook and they married in June 11, 1942 at Seiling. They lived their entire lives at Seiling, first on the Minnie Vaughn place four miles east and two miles south nearly eighteen years. They moved three and one half miles south of town on the Bob Jaquith place where they lived thirty years until A. D's health failed and they purchased the Bob Jaquith home in Seiling in 1987 where they continued to make their home.

A. D. and Dorothy were blessed with three beautiful daughters: LaVeta, Brenda and Sheila. After their girls started school, Dorothy was overseer of the kitchen at the Seiling Livestock Auction for several years. She also worked at the Seiling Nursing Center and the Seiling Hospital for twenty years. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Seiling where she kept the nursery over thirty years. Her family and her church were the two treasures in her life.

She is survived by her daughters, LaVeta Warner of Broken Arrow, Brenda Ward of Weatherford and Sheila Walters of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren: Michelle, Wayde, Angie, Kurtis, Kyle and Tammy, seventeen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Troy Hall and wife Corine of Buda, TX, one sister Wanda Lewing of Zavalla, TX, besides several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Pat Dougherty, officiating. Burial will follow in Brumfield Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Brumfield Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home-Box 236-Seiling, OK 73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
