Memorial services for Kevin Lee Bratten, age 42, of Norman will begin at 7:00 pm Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Journey Church – Loveworks Campus, 1330 East Lindsey Street in Norman.
Kevin was born on September 25, 1969 in Clarksburg, West Virginia the son of Darrell Bee and Jerrylon Joyce (Klein) Bratten. He passed away early Friday morning, August 3, 2012, when Jesus quietly slipped inside his hospital room, awakened him and whispered, “Kevin, come on, it's time to go home.” Kevin was raised and attended public schools in Seiling, Oklahoma, graduating from Seiling High School in 1987. He immediately enrolled in college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, completing two full years. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Miss Kristie Roof on August 11, 1989.
Kevin returned to school, completing an Associates Degree in Heating and Air Conditioning at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 2002. Kevin and Kristie resided in Purcell, Oklahoma from 1997 to 2000, before moving to Norman in 2000. In 2005, Kevin began his own business, Alameda Heat & Air of Norman. Kevin continued to operate and lead the business for the next 7 years before his sudden death.
Kevin was a man of impeccable character, always practicing honesty and truth in everything he did. He had a deep sense of faith, never wavering from his belief in Jesus Christ, that situations and occurrences are a result of a plan that are already mapped out for all of us. Kevin often would remark, “It is what it is” and “It will all work out” believing that Jesus is in control and we are not to worry about things we have no control over. Kevin's work ethic and his generous heart allowed him to build a successful business and provide help and assistance to the elderly and those that needed it. He never was concerned about the little things, choosing instead, to focus on living out his convictions.
When he wasn’t working, Kevin enjoyed scuba diving, especially in Cozumel, hunting, fishing and watching and supporting OU sports and Professional Basketball, especially the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was also a gifted musician, enjoying Contemporary Christian Music.
Kevin was a member of Antioch Community Church of Norman.
