Seiling – The funeral for Amy Knowles Harrington Atendido, 55, will be at 11 AM Wednesday at the First Christian Church, with Pastors Marvin Garrison and ewel Vaughan officiating. Private graveside services will be at the Seiling Cemetery, under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.
The casket will be open at the church from 10 AM until service time.
She was born November 19, 1939, at West Kingston, Rhode Island, to Chester Bradford and Amy Vaughan Knowles Harrington and died Friday, February 17, 1995, at her home in Edmond, following a sudden illness. At an early age, she attended Iroquois Central where she graduated from high school. She later attended Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, New York. She married, Amadeo G. Atendido March 21, 1958, in East Aurora, New York. In 1981, the family moved from Hamburg, New York to Seiling. She was employed at the Seiling Medical Clinic for several years. While living in Seiling, she attended the First Christian Church. In 1989, she moved to Edmond and worked for Dr. Thomas Moffeit, a medical doctor affiliated with Mercy Hospital. She was working as the business office manager of the Mercy Health Windsor Hills Medical Clinic for Dr. Moffeit. She completed an associate degree in gerontology from Oklahoma City Community College in 1994. She was active in the Seiling Hospital Auxiliary and served the organization in several different capacities.
Surviving are four daughters, Kim Hedges of Seiling, Peggy Legault of Edmond, Amy Atendido of Morristown, New Jersey, and Helen Sander of Weatherford; four sons, Lee Atendido of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Todd Atendido of Edmond, Sean Atendido of Dallas and Kenny Atendido of Norman; her mother, Amy Harrington of Seiling, two brothers, Chester B. Harrington Jr. and Basil V. Harrington, both of Tucson, Arizona; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be made to the area medical foundation or to the heart foundation, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
