Howard “Cookie” Rogers, 81, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was born on September 12, 1930 in Leach, Oklahoma, the son of Henry B. Rogers and Mollie (Steeley) Rogers. He attended school at Leach, Kansas and Oaks, Oklahoma.
Howard faithfully served his Country in the United States Army from 1950 until 1952. He married Ethel Lee Johnston in March of 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Howard worked for Dold Packing Company in Wichita, Kansas. He worked for Simmon’s Industry as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, retiring in 1993. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason in Lodge #252 in Kansas, Oklahoma, a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Salina, Oklahoma.
Howard enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. He also enjoyed listening to country music, raising his cattle and driving his tractor. Howard especially enjoyed teaching his grandson to drive. Howard leaves many wonderful memories for his family to cherish. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services for Howard will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Leach with Reverend Randy Thorman with Eulogy by Jim Henegar. Interment will be in the Welch-Prairie Cemetery with Leland Johnston, Mark Johnston, David Johnston, Lyndyll Johnston, Gary Bryant and Bobby Rogers serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Micah Shrader, Shea Tuller, Cody Shrader, Rendi Rogers and Bo Rogers.
The family asks memorials be made to the Masonic Lodge #252 in Kansas, Oklahoma in his name.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Lee Rogers of the home; his son, Brad Rogers and wife, Sunnye of Adair, OK; his daughters, Rhonda Tuller of Broken Arrow, OK and Brenda Shrader and husband, Marty of Pryor, OK; grandchildren, Micah, Shea, Cody, Beth, Rendi and Bo; great grandchildren, Rylee and Parker; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mollie Rogers; four siblings; two nieces and one nephew.
