Tommy J. Taylor, 85-year-old Pryor resident, passed away Thursday September 12, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on June 23, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Everette Taylor and Margaret Taylor (McHenry). Tommy graduated high school in Oilton, Oklahoma in 1958. Tommy and Maudie Taylor (Keener) got married in September 9, 1988, in Newell, Iowa. Professionally Tommy was a consulting engineer for Finley Engineering, His professional endeavors were his living, but also a series of adventures that took him across the globe. From Tokyo to the vibrant landscapes of Africa, from the serene environments of Holland to the exotic realms of Thailand, Tommy's work allowed him to immerse himself in diverse cultures and experiences. Tommy and Maudie traveled in an RV throughout the United States from 1986 to 2003, enjoying all different kinds of places. He enjoyed OU Sooner football, watching westerns on TV, he loved taking care of his lawn and had a great love for his little Shih Tzu dogs.
He was preceded in death by, His parents Evertte Taylor and Margaret (McHenry) Taylor, his sisters, Lucille Mann, Joann Webert, and Colleen Bush.
The surviving family includes his beloved wife, Maudie Taylor, of Pryor Oklahoma, Sons Todd Taylor, of Oklahoma, Michael Chalakee of Pryor, Oklahoma, Gerald Chalakee of Pryor, Oklahoma, daughter Tammy Turner (Chalakee) and husband Johnny Turner of Afton, Oklahoma, Sister Sally Beaver of Tulsa, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at the Stephens-Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.
The celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Stephens Memorial Chapel in Pryor, with Pastor Rusty Harrison officiating.
Interment will follow at Round Springs Cemetery near Eucha, Oklahoma.
