Franklin “Bobby Lee” Chewey, Sr.

Franklin “Bobby Lee” Chewey, Sr., 71, of Eucha, Oklahoma died at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.

Bobby Lee was born January 6, 1938 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to Willie and Josephine (Barehead) Chewey.

He married Beulah E. Cunningham in Miami, OK on May 15, 1961.

Franklin worked as a heavy equipment operator for Pipeline Industry, Delaware County, and Cherokee Nation. Frank enjoyed baseball, first coaching his sons and then watching his grandkids play. He was always willing to help out with benefits and cooked many Hogfrys with Mike Shotpouch, Woody Wilson and the Shotpouch family. Frank loved the Lord and served the Lord faithfully. He was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Willie Chewey, Josephine Creekkiller, and stepdad Bob Creekkiller; brothers, Robert Creekkiller, Alvin Chewey; and sister, Mary Jane Cunningham.

Bobby Lee is survived by his wife Beulah of the home; four sons, Franklin Chewey, Jr., Ronny and Sandi Chewey, and Rodney Chewey all of Eucha, OK, Bobby and Shelly Chewey of Jay, OK; four daughters, Cora Jo Myers, Tawni and husband Ralph Tyner both of Eucha, Jeniece Kinser of Anderson, MO, Tambra and husband Sam Huddleston of Zena; four sisters, Wynena Daugherty, Evelyn Dry, and Ella Jones all of Jay, and Anna Teehee of Tahlequah; two brothers, John Chewey of Miami, and William Chewey of Jay; 27 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and a host of friends and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma.

Services are 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at First Assembly of God in Jay, Oklahoma with Reverend George Polecat and Reverend John Wayne Summerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Chewey, William Chewey, Leroy White, Jacob Williams, Luther Buzzard, and Michael Shotpouch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Woody Wilson, Cherokee Williams, Jeff Cunningham, Martin Sharp, Sonny Buzzard, Jamie Cunningham, Johnson Shotpouch, and Jackson Shotpouch.
