Joseph Jefferson Hutchison
August 14, 1937 ~ March 2, 2026

Joseph Jefferson Hutchison passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 at the Court Yards Assisted Living in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 88.

Joe was born on August 14, 1937 to Harry and Lorene (Lane) Hutchison in Eucha, Oklahoma.

Joe played professional baseball for a short period, he signed with the Milwaukee Braves, but the league soon folded and he didn’t have the opportunity to play with another team.

Joe’s heart was always with wildlife. He went on to become a State Game Warden and retired after 32 years as the District Chief. After retirement, his love for politics and the state of Oklahoma lead him to run for District 5 State Representative for the Democratic Party. He held the title for the term limit on 12 years.

Joe’s heart and soul was also in bluegrass music and he was the promoter for Powderhorn Park Bluegrass Festival in Langley, Oklahoma for over 20 years. He booked bluegrass bands from all over the United States, as well as, internationally.

In addition to all of the above, he served on the Northeast Rural Electric Company Board, Northeast Vo Tech Board, Eucha Water Board and the Grand Gateway.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steve Lane Hutchison; two nephews, Eddie Laws and Johnny Laws and one nephew in law, Russell Bauer.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam (Stacey) and JoAnn (John); grandchildren, Kelsey (Tyler) and Jared (Brittney); great grandchildren, Logan, Krysta and Grayson; one sister, Barabara Williams; mother of his daughters, Barbara Hutchison and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Court Yards Assisted Living in Claremore and Suncrest Hospice for their love and care.
