Roy Guy Strong
September 11, 1942 ~ August 23, 2024

Roy Guy Strong, born September 11, 1942, in Leach, Oklahoma, to Henry Clayton and Phyllis Irene (Jackson) Strong, passed away on August 23, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81.

Roy spent his formative years in the Leach area, where he attended Rocky Ford School before graduating from Oaks Mission High School in 1960. Following his high school years, he served his country with honor in the United States Army, receiving his discharge on October 22, 1965. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Initially working alongside his father in concrete work, Roy later transitioned to a career in excavating and landscaping. For over 45 years, he worked primarily for himself and frequently collaborated with his brother Tony.

Roy was a member of the American Legion and had a deep passion for bird hunting. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and attending horse races. Known for his honesty, kindness, dedication, and hard work, Roy touched the lives of many.

He is survived by his brothers Tony Strong and wife Aida of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Charlie Strong and wife Deann of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his sister Nancy Thompson of Leach, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Lana Strong and Mary Helen Strong of Rocky Ford, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack Strong and Frank Strong; brother-in-law Doug Thompson; and niece Kim Philpot.

A graveside service for the burial of his cremated remains will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Elm Cemetery in Leach, Oklahoma. Brother Rick Thompson will officiate. Cremation services are being handled by the Locust Grove Funeral Home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
