TAHLEQUAH — Monte Lee Price, a 39 year-old resident of Jay, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
Monte was born on Jan. 27, 1973, in Claremore, to Dorothy Summerfield Price and Danny Price. He was baptized in the Jay Tsa La Gi United Methodist Church.
Monte was a 1991 graduate of Jay High School and was All State in football in 1990. Monte was an outstanding athlete and excelled in football and track in Jay, and Albuquerque, N.M.
He was enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where he was finishing his bachelor's degree. Monte worked as the information technology systems administrator for TAMKO Building Products in Joplin, Mo. He loved being outdoors. Monte enjoyed hunting deer, gigging, fishing, boating and golf. Monte also enjoyed watching his daughter, Chloe, play basketball and run cross country.
Monte is survived by his daughter, Chloe Price of Jay; mother, Dorothy Summerfield of Jay; father, Danny Price and wife Sandy of Jay; brother, Jay J. Price of Adair; sister, Raven Matlock and husband Will of Jay; paternal grandmother, Melba Price of Jay; uncles, Brad Price and wife Sandi of Jay, Roger Simmons and wife Janey of Sallisaw, and Eddie "Sunny" Summerfield and wife Alice of Muskogee; and his aunt, Anita Smith and husband Stanley of Tahlequah.
Monte is also survived by one great aunt, Annie Mae O'Field; and cousins, Levi Price, Meghan Hamby, Brian Smith, Adrienne Smith, Jana Smith, Gretchen Summerfield-Newman, Beau Simmons, Matt Simmons and Joseph Simmons.
Monte is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ed Summerfield and Mary Helen Summerfield; and paternal grandfather, Sammy Price.
Services will be held at Mt. Hermon Church in Jay, at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 3. Interment to follow at Duffield Cemetery in Jay.
A wake service will be held at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, from 7-9 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 2.
