Charles D. Barber was born in New York: He and Florence G. Ross were married about 1871.
Charles had been married previously. As a young man, he served in the 49th Wisconsin infantry during the Civil War.
When he died of stomach cancer, at the age of seventy-three, his
obituary stated that he was survived by his widow; one son; eight grand-children
and three great grand-children.
