Carmen (Atchison) Brown

Carmen (Atchison) Brown
September 2, 1928 ~ January 14, 2022

Celebration of Life Service for Carmen Brown, 93, of Fairview, will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Longdale Community Church, with Pastors Jim McGinn and Jim Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Valley Cemetery, Thomas, Oklahoma, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid.

Carmen was born September 2, 1928, in Pratt, Kansas, to Charles and Florella Bailey Atchison and died on January 14, 2022, in her home in Fairview.

She found true happiness late in life marrying Leland Brown on September 30, 2006. Carmen was a public accountant in Woodward until moving to Canton, Oklahoma, in the early 1980s. In Canton, she opened a gift shop called Carmen's of Canton. Later she added a pharmacy to the gift shop. Carmen was an active member of the Senior Citizens and Longdale Community Church. She loved spending time with her family, loved to travel, fishing, playing pool, and cards. Carmen enjoyed listening to music, especially when her sons and grandsons played. She often requested the song "Wipe-out" just so her son Mike would have a solo. Carmen loved her church and often invited her son Jim to preach to the congregation. Her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life!

She was preceded in death by her parents, CW Atchison, Florella "Flit" Crossfield; stepfather, Guy Crossfield; brother, Bruce Atchison; sisters, Betty Nash and Carol Cavanaugh; grandson, Robert Holmes.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Leland; sons and their wives, Jim and Marsha Dixon and Mike and Donna Dixon; step-son and wife, Darrel and Cheryl Mushaney; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael and Rhonda Dixon and their children, Emily and Megan Dixon, Carmen Ann and Roger Givens and their children, Malorie and Luke Kinder, Jason Holmes, Lynnley Holmes, Lauren and Ridge Lowrance, Leigh Givens, Nathan and Kim Dixon and their children, Cade Dixon, Jacy Dixon, Kaly Dixon, Breana Mills, Jeffery and Vanessa Dixon and their children, Abbigail, Claire, and Evelyn Dixon, Wade and Melissa Dixon and their children C.J., Landon and Blake Dixon; great-great-grandchildren, River and Ruby Lowrance; sister, Elizabeth Burnham; other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Longdale Community Church. Condolences may be made online at www.andersonburris.com.
