Funeral Services for Joyce Meyer, 82, Clinton resident were held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2007 in the First Christian Church officiated by Brother Doyle Kinney and burial followed in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Marilynn Joyce (Hammon) Meyer was born January 9, 1925 to Cecil and Doris Hammon in Okmulgee, OK and passed away Monday, May 29, 2007 in the Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford.
Joyce was raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she attended and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1943. She continued her education at a Oklahoma City Business School. She started her career with Curtis Candy Company and that is where she met her husband to be, Mr. William S. Meyer. They were married August 30, 1944 in Bakersfield, CA. The young couple made their home in Bakersfield, CA while Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In August of 1946 their daughter, Marilyn Kay was born in Bakersfield. In 1947 the family moved to the Oklahoma City area where there son Stewart was born in 1949.
In 1958 they moved to Clinton where Joyce worked at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base as Secretary for the Deputy Commander of Operations and later for the Base Commander until the base closed. She was then employed with the Social Security Office in Clinton and stayed there until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marilynn Kay Schimmel, a sister, Jo Ann Cook and a grandson, Craig Stewart Meyer.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home, Son, Stewart Meyer and his wife, Beth Ann, Chickasha; Granddaughters, Michelle Kauk and husband, Chris; Melinda Barton and husband, Brandon, All of Clinton and Christy Schroeder and husband, Brandon, El Reno and Grand Daughter in Law Mrs. Craig (Deserae) Meyer, Chickasha.
She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Grant and Mackenzie Kauk, Harlee and Chase Terry, Morgan Barton, Zak, Alex, and Abby Schroeder and Isabella Meyer.
