Thelma (Goss) Kiehn

November 8, 1909 ~ October 24, 2002

Funeral services for Thelma Kiehn, 92, of Clinton were held October 29, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Doyle Kinney officiating. Burial concluded at the Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Oklahoma. Arrangements were under the direction of Kiesaue Marler Funeral Home, Clinton, Oklahoma.

Thelma was born on November 8, 1909 in Clinton, Oklahoma to John Carl Goss and Lela (Stocks) Goss. She passed away October 24 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Thelma grew up and attended Clinton Schools. She graduated from Clinton School of Nursing in 1930.

She married Fred Kiehn, Sr. on December 24, 1929 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Thelma worked in Nevada and California from 1932 to 1950 at which time she returned to Clinton.

She worked for Oklahoma General Hospital in Clinton for a number of years. Thelma was the first civilian nurse to start working at the Clinton Sherman Air Base and semi-retired at the base closing.

Thelma was a longtime member of the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca's, State Nursing Association and the Clinton Women's Bowling Association.

She is survived by her sons; Fred Kiehn and wife, Mary Jane of Clinton, Oklahoma, Jack and wife, Elberta of Clinton, Oklahoma, daughter; Virginia Hadley of Redland, California; sister-in-law; Elsie Goss of Oceanside, California, grandchildren; Dennis and Pam Kiehn, Donald Kiehn, Bobby and Charisse Kiehn, Lori and Rusty Edmondson, Valerie Eisele, Joe and Michelle Hadley, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, John Carl Goss (1949) and Lela Stocks Goss (1955), husband, Fred Kiehn, Sr. (1955), brothers and sisters-in- law: Harry and Viola Goss, Austin (Tom) and Pauline Goss, Gene Goss, sister; Helen Goss, and granddaughter; Tammi Kiehn.
