Frances Evelyn (Spurlin) Aneshansley 

 

A Mass of Christian burial for Frances Evelyn (Spurlin) Aneshansley, 86, long time Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Clinton officiated by Father Rex Arnold. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the church.


Mrs. Aneshansley died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Clinton. She was born March 28, 1925, in Erick, the daughter of James B. and Alice Marie (Bryant) Spurlin. Reared in Reydon, she attended and graduated from Reydon High School in 1941. She continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. During World War II, she was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Oklahoma City and also at Seattle, Washington. She married C.W. (Bill) Aneshansley November 28, 1945, at the Clinton Navel Air Station at Burns Flat. They traveled with the military and were stationed in Long Island, N.Y., and New Orleans, La., before moving back to Clinton where she was active at St. Mary's Catholic Church and was instrumental in orchestrating the church choir.


Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bill, in 2000; a brother, Jim Spurlin; and a great granddaughter, Kelsie Layne Allen. Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery, under direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton. Survivors included a daughter, Janice Young and her husband, Rick, Carrollton, Texas; three sons, Michael Aneshansley and his wife, Vicki, Tulsa, Alan Aneshansley and his wife, Kathy, Clinton, and Bradley Aneshansley and his wife, Kimberly, Clinton; a brother, George Spurlin, Plano, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.


The family has suggested memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the church at 714 S. 12th St., Clinton, Oklahoma 73601 or to the United Methodist Health Care Center, 2316 W. Modelle, Clinton, OK 73601.
