Funeral services for Mr. Finis Harley Nelson, 85 years old, Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, was held in The Chapel of the Lockstone Funeral Home, Inc. of Weatherford on Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Bryan officiating.
Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the of the Lockstone Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Nelson was born February 27, 1908 in Roger Mills County near Leedey, Oklahoma and died Sunday, March 14, 1993 at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Finis was raised near Leedey and attended the Texamo rural school.
He was married to Miss Pearl Travis on December 24, 1926 at Moorewood, Oklahoma. They made their home near Moorewood, Oklahoma and in 1952 they moved to Derby, Kansas.
Finis worked for Boeing for some ten years retiring in 1971.
After retirement they moved to Nowata, Oklahoma, then later to Dallas, Texas. Later returning to Derby, Kansas where they lived until September 1991 when they moved to Weatherford.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star.
Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Nelson, Weatherford, Oklahoma; four sons, Don Nelson and his wife Margaret of Sunray, Texas; Harvey Nelson and his wife Sharon of McPhearson, Kansas; Lee Nelson and his wife, Linda, Pittsburg, Kansas; and Morris Nelson and his wife, Diana, Sam Ramon, California; one daughter, Blance Ford and her husband, Gordon of Weatherford; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Woodrow Teague of Washlau, Missouri; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amanda Nelson; one son, Finis Dean; one daughter, Voncille; two grandchildren, Rick and Traci; and five brothers, Ora, Owen, Jim Nelson, Bill and Boyd Teague.
