Thurman Julius "T. J." Barker

Sept. 13, 1930 ~ Aug. 16, 2008

A graveside service for Thurman Julius "T. J." Barker, 77, of Enid, will be 2 p.m Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Butler Cemetery , Butler . The Rev. Rose Marie Leroy will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Butler to Jeff and Bessie Barker and died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his home.

He was educated in Butler , later moving to Clinton. He married Zeda Beatrice Price July 24, 1950, in Hammon. They moved to Enid in 1962, where he worked for Gold Spot Dairy as a milk inspector. He was a member of Garland Road Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Bea of the home; three sons, Charles Barker of Bakersfield, Calif., Don Barker of Jet and Carl Gene Barker of Enid; one brother, Carrol Barker of Arapaho; two sisters, Mildred Kelly and Oveda Touchstone, both of Arapaho; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bethany United Methodist Church.
