Lola M. Varnell, 83 year old Woodward resident died Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the Living Word Fellowship Church. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 3:00 pm in Oakhill Cemetery, Mannford, Oklahoma with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lola Mable (Bledsaw) Varnell was born June 29, 1933 in Mannford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Barto L. and Iva Bledsaw. She grew up in Mannford and in California. She attended several different schools through the 10th grade. She was married to Manard Gene Varnell on August 31, 1951 in Mannford. They made their home in Mannford before moving to Woodward in 1977. Manard preceded her in death of December 18, 2009.

Following Manard's death Lola had been living with her daughter Tonia Cain for the past eight years.

Lola was of the Holiness faith. The most enjoyment in her life was church, singing and being with family. Her hobbies were reading the Bible and embroidery.

She is survived by her four sons, Davie Varnell and wife Judy; Tommy Varnell and wife Janice, Billy Varnell; Richard Varnell and wife Donna, all of Woodward; two daughters, Carol DeShazer and husband Lloyd of Drumright, OK; Tonia Cain and husband Robert, of Woodward; one brother, Raymond Bledsaw and wife Linda of Lakeview, OR; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husband Manard; son Danny Gene; daughter Darla Jean Wilhite; sister Vergie Anderson; brother Albert.
