Raymond Donald Baker was born November 15, 1926 to Joe and Bessie Baker in Gypsy, Oklahoma. He departed this life September 25, 2019 at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 20 days.
After graduating from Gypsy high school, he entered the United States Army where he served from February 27, 1945 to December 4, 1946. He was united in marriage to Virginia Bell on July 10, 1945. They enjoyed over 61 years together before her passing in 2005. From this union were born two children, Don and Judy.
He worked at B.F. Goodrich as Store Manager and later R&R Appliance. He was an active member of the Bristow Church of God where he served as a board member. He loved the Lord and his church very much. He also enjoyed bird hunting, watching Saint Louis Cardinals baseball and Bob Wills Western swing music. He is survived by one son, Don Baker and wife Carol of Bristow; one daughter, Judy Horton and husband Joel of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Eric Baker and wife Emily, Becky Busch and husband Tim, Lindsey Niemeyer and husband Chris, Layne Horton and wife Beth; Six great grandchildren, Jaelyn Richardson, Jonathan Niemeyer, Caden Baker, Journey Busch, Heath Horton and Luke Horton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia Baker, two brothers, Del and Merle Baker.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Bristow First Church of God with Reverend Tim Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
