Edward Glen McAnulty, known to his friends and family as "Bill", from Kellyville, was 80 years old when he passed away in his home on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
Known for his quick wit and positive outlook on life, Bill was endeared by his family and many friends. He was a man of integrity, devoted to the Lord and his family, who never shied away from hard work, especially for the benefit of others. He always saw the best in people and treated everyone the same regardless of the worldly titles.
Born on November 18, 1938, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to John Harrison McAnulty and Lillian Beatrice Curdy, Bill graduated from Kellyville High School in 1956 and joined the U.S. Airforce, serving his country until 1960.
In August 1958, Bill married Judith Kay Binns at the First Baptist Church of Kellyville, where they became lifelong members. After their wedding, the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Bill was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base. Judy attended Oklahoma State University and Wichita State University.
They moved to Tulsa in 1960 and started their family. They were blessed with a daughter Andra Kay in 1960 and an infant son Jonathan Garth in 1963, who is deceased. In 1970, they had their third child, daughter Jami Lynn, and moved back to their hometown of Kellyville.
In the early 1960's Bill traveled to work on the pipeline in northern states with his brother in-law Joe Davis and David Kirk. His first job in Oklahoma was with Allied Steel followed by Lee C. Moore and TK International and he later started his own small business GMC Welding Company. Bill spent the majority of his career as a welder with American Airlines, retiring in 1990.
Bill enjoyed fishing, watching bull riding, raising cattle and pigs, and above all, spending time with his family. Bill had a huge love for softball, playing on fastpitch leagues and coaching numerous girls' softball teams. He also had a passion for 4-H and FFA as he enjoyed raising show pigs that he sold all over the state. Bill voluntarily spent countless evenings helping to build the current Creek County Fairgrounds and was later bestowed with the Honorary FFA Degree for his commitment to agriculture and Creek County youth. He served for many years on the Kellyville School Board and served his community with great pride for his alma mater.
He loved his family dearly, and this August 1st, he and Judy would have celebrated 61 years of marriage.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Harrison McAnulty and Lillian Beatrice Curdy, son Jonathan Garth, one brother J.D. McAnulty, three sisters Imogene Linville and her husband Bill, Pauline Deason and her husband James and Freddie Ruth "Boots" Kirk and her husband David and brother-in-law Joe David. Also, two brothers-in-law Charles Lee (Chuck) Binns and his wife Odell, James Oscar (J.O.) Binns, Jr., and his wife Elnora, two sisters-in-law Carmeleta Annabel "Moe" Binns Smith and Alma Jean "Jeannie" Binns Lewis, one nephew Lee Ray Deason and one niece Cathie Binns Fox.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Kellyville and his two daughters: Andra Hickman and her husband Joe of Bristow and Jami Longacre and her husband John of Kellyville, their grandchildren Tyler, Kate and Grayson Hickman of Kellyville, Coleman Hickman and Chase Carter of Stillwater and Turner Longacre of Kellyville. He is also survived by his sister Dora "Toots" Davis of Tulsa, his sister in-law and brother-in-law Reba and Jack Nitz of Tulsa and sister-in-law Peggy Blue of Joplin, MO. He was loved and will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and his entire family.
A celebration of Bill's life was last Friday, July 12th, at the First Baptist Church of Kellyville, 306 East Camden, Kellyville, OK 74039 under the direction of Green Hill Funeral Home and he was laid to rest in the Kellyville Cemetery.
