Funeral services for Drumright residents, Jim & Bonnie Laffoon, were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Drumright First Assembly of God with Rev. Henry Kellogg of Tishomingo, OK officiating, & Rev. Michael Branum. Interment followed in the Drumright North Cemetery. Jimmy Allen Laffoon was born in Konowa, Oklahoma on April 17, 1941 to the late William Jefferson Laffoon & Victoria Vinita (Bolton) Laffoon. He passed from this life in Springfield, Missouri on September 15, 2021 at the age of 80 years, 4 months, & 29 days. Jim was raised & educated in Drumright & was a 1960 graduate of Drumright High School. He had lived all of his life in this area. In the early 1980s, he became the owner / operator of Burts Backhoe Service. He valued a good, honest days work & had only recently semi retired, kind of. He also knew that you needed to have fun and could be a jokester at times. He was a happy, go lucky, kind of man; always met you with a smile and was glad to see you. He enjoyed many things in life, but none more precious than spending time with his family & grandkids.
Bonnie Kay Laffoon was born in Yale, Oklahoma on August 27, 1944 to the late James Omar Woodward & Ottie Ostavy (McCain) Woodward. She also passed from this life in Springfield, Missouri on September 15, 2021 at the age of 77 years, & 19 days. Bonnie was raised & educated in Drumright. On July 24, 1960, at the age of 15, she & Jimmy were united in marriage; the beginning of a 61+ year love affair. They made their home & raised their family in Drumright. In her early years, Bonnie had worked at Coast to Coast, and was the owner of the local Merle Norman Cosmetics store. She then pursued a career in banking as a Teller. She had worked for the Drumright Citizens Bank, American National Bank, & SpiritBank. She retired when SpiritBank was purchased by RCB. Bonnie was a longtime member of the Drumright First Assembly of God, serving as Secretary for many years and in numerous other capacities and positions. She also sang in the popular singing group Lights of Christ. Like Jim, Bonnie cherished the time spent with her family and grandkids.
In addition to their son Jeffery, and their parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by 4 SISTERS: Betty Terry Dorothy Dees Hazel Cornwell & JoAnn Smith; 3 BROTHERS: Bob Woodward J.O. Woodward, Jr. & Charles Nobel Woodward. Jim was preceded in death by 1 SISTER: Sally Laffoon; & 5 BROTHERS: Gilbert Burton Vernon William - & Samuel Laffoon.
They are survived by their 2 CHILDREN: Krista Wilson of Drumright Terry Laffoon & wife Beckey of Silver City; GRANDCHILDREN: Amanda & Daniel Neal Michelle Wilson Ashley & Paden Paxton Dustin & Mikayla Laffoon Matt & Emma Laffoon Madison Laffoon; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Chloe Bentley Finnley Daniel Emilee Thomas - & Emersyn. Also, Jim leaves behind a SISTER: Lindsay Stump; & Bonnie leaves behind a BROTHER: Bill Woodward, plus, they both have NUMEROUS Nieces Nephews Cousins - & a host of other relatives and friends.
