Glen Dale Smith was born February 10, 1950 to Seamon and Irene Smith. He departed this Life November 28, 2015 in Bristow at the age of 65 years 9 months and 18 days.
Glen attended school in Gypsy and Depew and had made the Bristow area his home. Glen met the woman who would become his wife by chance at the Anchor Drive. On May 30, 1969, Glen Smith and Diann Porter were married. To this union were born two children. Glen provided for his family working in the glass industry; retiring after 40 plus years. Though Glen had only two children, he opened the doors of his heart and home to make sure anyone who needed it, if even for a short while, had a place to call home. He and Diann fostered several children throughout the years; many becoming extended family. He loved the wonder and excitement of children especially his grandchildren; being known as "poppy" to many. Glen attended church at the River of Life Christian Center In Drumright. As well, he could never pass up an opportunity to go fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Diann of the Bristow home, one daughter, Allison Eldredge and husband, Shawn of Bristow, one son, Glen Allen Smith and wife Angela, of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina; two grandsons, Garrett and Peyton Smith; one granddaughter on the way, Elliana Eldrege; extended family members, Tiffany Courtaway and her son, Colby Hill and Samantha Wise and her children Asia, Bubba, and Kingston Cole; ten siblings, Joyce Stubblefield of Bristow, Louise Campbell of Bristow, Janice Kennedy of Glenpool, Clayton Smith of Mannford, Charlie Smith of Bristow, Nita Watts and husband, Keith of Bristow, Gerald Smith and wife, Florene of Bristow, Melton Smith and wife, Juanita of Bristow, Nadine Plum and husband, Charles of Bristow, and Jackie Smith and wife, Kathleen of Bristow; and sister-in-law, Joyce Smith of Bristow. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Seamon, Merle and baby boy Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Vogele officiating.
