Marilyn Sue (Gass) McKinzie

May 12, 1947 ~ January 1, 2009

Marilyn Sue McKinzie passed from this life on January 1, 2009. Born May 12, 1947, Marilyn was a life-long resident of Creek County. She was the daughter of Ralph Winifred and Lola Meekee (Denny) Gass of Bristow.

Marilyn attended Bristow schools where she participated in many activities. She went on to be an avid supporter of the band parent's group while her children were in school.

She was continuously employed at various garment factories for over thirty years and spent time as a supervisor and as a union shop representative. She also worked for Wal-Mart where she was a favorite with other employees and customers alike.

Marilyn married Kenneth McKinzie on June 14, 1970 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was the loving mother of two sons, Jimmy DeWayne McKinzie of Tulsa and Stephen Ray McKinzie, wife Jessie and grand-daughter Izabella Grace of Bristow and a daughter, Kathy Jo McKinzie.

Marilyn was an accomplished and talented crafts-woman. She crocheted, sewed and quilted for her family and friends and as a side business. She was generous in helping charitable causes with donations of her handi-crafts.

She attended the Trinity Baptist Church where she was a devoted and active member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Meekee Gass and her infant daughter Kathy Jo McKinzie. She is survived by her two sisters, Loretta Gayle Coppinger of Claremore and Carol Ann Cramer of Claremore, a niece and numerous nephews and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, January 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutchins-Maple Funeral Home, Bristow. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Bristow City Cemetery.
