Jo Nell Sears Jones

March 31, 1930 ~ July 24, 2023

Jo Nell Jones was born March 31, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Gene and Jo Aline (Lee) Sears. She departed this life July 24, 2023 at the age of 93 years.

Jo Nell grew up in and around Bristow attending Bristow Schools. She was a member of the 1948 graduating class. Jo Nell Sears and William Edgar Jones II were united in marriage on July 27, 1961; together they raised four children. Daily tasks of taking care of the home and family was certainly demanding but she always found time for the little things. Jo Nell was a lifelong member of First Christian Church. Staying active within the church and involved community outreached allowed Jo Nell to grow in her faith and foster growth in others. She served many years as Sunday school teacher, the church board and later as a Deacon and Elder. Jo Nell gave of her time serving as a past President of Christian Women's Fellowship and was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha. A true passion for Jo Nell was gardening, she earned the title of master Gardener enjoying fellowship with other gardeners with Bristow Garden Club as well as, serving as president of the Tulsa Garden Club. She also lent her talents serving as President of Culture Club and a member of PEO and Eastern Star. Sewing and knitting were activities that passed the time. She enjoyed traveling but her greatest joy was time with family and friends.

Jo Nell Is survived by her four children, Julia Spainhower of Bristow, Laura Evans and husband Lee of Ponca City, Rebecca Jones and wife Diane Smaling of Jenks, and William Edgar Jones III and wife Shelly of Highland Village, Texas; step- brother, Jack B. Wagoner of Las Vegas, Nevada; step-niece, Heather Burzlaff and husband Paul of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; step-nephew, Brian Wagoner of Las Vegas, Nevada, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; four grandchildren, Jeremy Jones of Tulsa, Lee Evans Jr. and wife Alexis of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ross Spainhower and wife Taylor of Perkins, Oklahoma, Dakota Spainhower of Holdenville, Oklahoma; and four great-grandchildren, Rylan, Ryett and Sterling Spainhower, and Hayes Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Jack J. Wagoner, and husband of 43 years, Dr. William Edgar Jones II.

Graveside services are 10:30 am, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Bristow City Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church in Bristow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or the Bristow Public School Child Nutrition Program.
