James Cody Powell, of Treece, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, in Topeka, Kan. He was 51.
Mr. Powell was born Aug. 29, 1955, in Wichita, Kan., to James R. and JoAnn (McAmmon) Powell.
He was a veteran of the Army.
He was a car salesman. He was a member of Highway Tabernacle in Cardin.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, James R. and Glenda Powell of Treece; one son, Eric Lee Powell of Baxter Springs, Kan.; one daghter, Misty Powell of Parsons, Kan.; three sisters, Connie Jo Fmeetes of Redding, Pa., Brenda Taylor of Linn, Mo., and Cathy Hall of Moore; one stepsister, Cindy Goble of Oklahoma City, and two stepbrothers, Brian Sooter of Quapaw and Stanley Smith of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher. The Rev. Ray Clonts will officiating. Burial will be in Williams Timberhill Cemetery, west of Welch.
Pallbearers will be members of Highway Tabernacle.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
