Dorothy Allen (Inman) Carder
November 19, 1933 ~ June 18, 2026

Dorothy Allen Carder, 92-year-old rural Afton resident, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Hillcrest South Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born on November 19, 1933, in Vinita to Carl Oliver Inman and Mary (Newkirk) Inman. Dorothy was a 1951 graduate of Vinita High School. On June 2, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life, Lloyd Junior “June” Carder in Vinita. Lloyd was a Baptist Minister and Dorothy was always supportive of the churches he pastored and was a wonderful blessing to the church. She was a babysitter for many years and still very loved by the children she kept. Dorothy also helped many people by driving them to appointments, taking them to church, helping them any way she could. She enjoyed working in the children’s ministry at her church. Dorothy was currently a member of the Kelso Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors, gardening, tending her beautiful flowers, and watching the deer and turkeys near her home. Truly a kind and giving person, she will be missed by many friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Carder in 2017, siblings, Patrica O’Neill in 2017, Carl Wayne Inman in 2023, Bob Inman in 2023, and Sharon Smith in 2024.

The family includes her son Dean Carder of the home; sister Betty McCallie and husband James of Vinita; grandchildren, Kevin Carder and wife Tanya of Duquesne, MO, Chauntelle Harding and husband Shannon of White Oak, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.

The celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita, with Pastors, Skip McClain, Justin Turner, and John Webb officiating, with Eulogy by Micah Wade. Interment will follow at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery east of Welch. Casket bearers will be Gregory Carder, Jonathan Whitaker, Micah Wade, Grant Carder, David Inman, and Wesley Whitaker. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally family owned and operated funeral home.”
