Sammy Jay Looney, 77 year old Bluejacket resident went to be with Jesus on Saturday March 17, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born October 7, 1934 in Vinita to Charley and Sarah Jane Fry Looney. Sammy was raised and educated in Vinita and was a truck driver.
Sammy had lived in Oregon, California, Alaska and Kansas before beginning a 28 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a track foreman.
He was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather that loved family gatherings and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the First Assembly of God at Bluejacket and enjoyed traveling.
Sammy leaves behind his wife Alice of the home, six children, Sammy J. Looney and wife Carol of Miami, OK, David and Delana Looney of Vinita, OK, Hoss and Rowena Looney of Bluejacket, Sarah and Johnny Tune of White Oak, OK, Delores and Roger Tune of White Oak, OK and Debbie Reitz of Owasso, OK, 4 sisters and one brother, 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 20, 2012 at Luginbuel Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at White Oak Baptist Church with Mr. Roy Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
