Edna Lee Keaton, 83-year-old Vinita resident, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 21, 1941, in Vinita to William “Bill” Thach and Lucille (McCoy) Thach. Edna Lee worked as a beautician and had her own beauty salon in Vinita “Edna Lee’s Hair Flair.” She had also worked at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, before she opened Edna Lee’s Residential Care in the late 70’s, and she also had Fountain House, and residential care homes in Vian and Poteau, along with a mental health care clinic in Afton. In her younger years she worked on the family dairy as well. Edna Lee enjoyed visiting the casino’s, going fishing and hunting. She really enjoyed disappearing to her farm in Missouri, or an occasional vacation. She loved and cared greatly for her family, raising her own kids, several nieces, nephews, and other family members grew up around her and appreciated the love and care she gave them.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Kyle Keaton, brother, Sam Thach, sisters, Janie Nicely and Judy Thach, grandchildren, Cody Kelley, and Diana Kelley, and five great-grandchildren.
The family includes her children, John Kelley, Ronnie Kelley, and Lonnie Kelley, sisters, Peggy Small and Shirley Winfrey, grandchildren, Clint Kelley, Cord Kelley, Jesse Gibbs, La Shay Jenkins, Ethan Kelley, Deanna Steward, John Woodard, Austin Kelley, Lacee Hipp, Larry Kelley, Jackie Renshaw, Heather Burgess, Destanie Denny, Shelbi Fritz, Callie Johnson, Jordann Adams, Lyndsay Lanee, Ryan Kelley, forty-one great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel.
The celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cowboy Junction, Greg Highsmith will officiate. Interment will follow at the Welch Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally owned and operated funeral home.”
