Betty June (Berry) Stevens

Betty June (Berry) Stevens
June 1, 1927 ~ November 25, 2024

Betty June (Berry) Stevens was born June 1, 1927, in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Elva V. Berry and Bessie B. (Minson) Berry. She departed this life on November 25, 2024, at the age of 97.

Betty was a member of the Vinita First Baptist Church, where she attended until health prevented her from going. She then drew and painted birthday cards for her Sunday School Class to give to the nursing home for their birthdays each month.

Betty attended Willow Branch grade school and graduated from White Oak High School in 1946.

She married Clifford Stevens on June 11, 1947. They resided on the farm northwest of Vinita, where they farmed, raised livestock cattle, and had a dairy. Clifford passed away on October 4, 1993.

Betty was a homemaker, worked beside her husband on the farm, and worked with 4-H while their daughters were at home. She taught Sunday School classes for many years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, drawing, painting, writing poems and songs, quilting and cooking for family and friends.

After her husband’s death, she remained on the farm and worked out caring for the sick. When she could no longer care for the sick, she moved to Vinita.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Norma Jean Parsons.

Survivors include her daughters Jeannie Lea Bradshaw, Donna June Frisby and husband Joe, and Betty Ann Irvin. She had one granddaughter, Sami Jo Frisby, five grandsons, Jerry Bradshaw, and wife Sonjia, Geremy Bradshaw, Tyler Loflin and wife Alisha, Trevor Loflin and wife Brittany, and Manny Irvin. Betty had two great granddaughters Hannah Bradshaw and Kenzi Loflin and two great grandsons Jacob Bradshaw and Liam Loflin. She is also survived by a very special friend Dorothy Stanley.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel, with Pastor Robert Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally owned and operated funeral home.”
