Delbert Maurice Gibson was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2017 at his home in Nowata, Oklahoma. He was born in Nowata March 14, 1953 to Seywood and Edith (Thompson) Gibson. Delbert was a 1971 graduate of Alluwe High School.
After high school he served in the United States Air Force.
Delbert was married to Beverly Shipley and later to Mary Huddleston.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church on North Willow Street in Nowata, American Legion Post 101 in Nowata, The Lincoln Alumni Scholarship Committee, and The Boilermaker Union #Local 592 for over 30 years.
Delbert enjoyed trapping, barbecuing wild game and playing video games. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Oklahoma Sooners.
Delbert loved his family and friends and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Delbert in death are his father, Seywood Gibson; and two siblings, Shelly and Jerry Gibson.
Survivors include his mother Edith Gibson of Nowata, children Kallie Gibson, Shamacka Mayhew, Shauwanna Mayhew; eight grandchildren, Kyler, Erika, Karrigan, Searie' Mayhew, Tya Mayhew, Xavier Mathis, Zaid Mathis, Alisseondra Mathis; on great grandchild; brothers, Kelly, Gary, and Darrell Gibson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Services for Delbert Maurice Gibson will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church on Mississippi Street in Nowata.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Benjamin Funeral Service in Nowata. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.
